Compact, Fish-Friendly Net with Smart Features
The KastKing Pontus Fishing Net is a well-designed tool that combines portability with functionality, making it suitable for various fishing scenarios. Its foldable and retractable design allows for easy storage and transport, which is particularly beneficial for kayak or bank fishing. Constructed with a 6063 aluminum alloy handle and a durable FBR frame, the net offers a sturdy build. The handle extends up to 61 inches, providing ample reach, and features a reinforced aluminum rib for added strength. The floating EVA foam padding ensures the net stays afloat if accidentally dropped, reducing the risk of loss. The net’s mesh is designed to be fish-friendly, minimizing harm to the catch, which is ideal for catch-and-release practices. Additionally, the built-in length scale on the net allows for quick measurements of your catch, though some users have noted it can be challenging to use with the fish inside the net.

Great compact net
Never used it since it is just for travel so will update when I actually do use it but giving it good rating for just being a long or what I would call a normal length net for travel without having trouble smashing it in a suitcase. Read the sizes and ask questions if you can to the buyer, I made that mistake in really not knowing what I got with the I think was the 20? I had to return it for this one, wanted more than 36" extension, this one is 61" I believe but your net you usually have everywhere you go. Looks like the hoop size can fit a good size fish in it, not sure how long with will last with the species I am after but just lasting the fish of a life time and falling apart is well worth it, sure a lot of nets would also be destroyed but such a species, toothy critters will probably take it apart quickly but it happens with most of them so I expect it and anything else is a plus. Fits in a suitcase well, other I had did not in which I had to go with this, biggest suitcase I could find I had trouble fitting the handle in and the hoop, this one is compact with no problems. Looking at the front of the net seems like its stretchy good for holding bigger fish and keep them from hurting themselves in the net for good catch and release I am guessing? Not sure, I have never had a net like this.

Time will tell
Here is my advice... This net has a purpose. Something compact and lightweight. I would not put it in my boat, and in the sun, day after day. I would put it in my back pack, for bank and dock fishing, maybe even in a canoe or kayak. Problem is the articulating joint is plastic, and the front of the net is supported by a cord, not metal. I usually do this: net the fish, and if it is heavy, I do not lift it out of the water with the net. I let the water support part of the weight, and use the lip gripper to pull the fish up and out of the net. The actual netting is woven cord, covered with a rubbery, elastomeric, coating. Holes are small. Should do the job if you are not too rough with it. Comes with a bag to put it in.

Randomly Snapped on me..
EDIT: They responded to my email the next morning and a replacement net arrived in 3 business days. KastKing has me as a customer. Great service!I kid you not the net randomly snapped on me... Went to unfold it and lock it in place for my fishing trip and it snapped. I've contacted KastKing and will change my review if they reach back out.. as of now. Just, wow. Lol

Great product. 5 out of 5
A perfect net. I hardly ever give anything a 5. But this is a 5.

The 17-13-16 hoop size was smaller than expected.
The media could not be loaded. I have purchased several Kast King rods and reels and have been quite satisfied with their products but I was not satisfied with this net. In full disclosure, KastKing sent me the 17”-13”-16” hoop size (fixed pole) net for free to try out and review. I am an inshore kayak angler and fish for Redfish, Trout, Flounder and other inshore species and occasionally do some Bass fishing. I have owned several collapsible nets. A failure point for these collapsible nets is the locking mechanism. The KastKing locking mechanism is made with a thicker, stronger, and heavier plastic and seems very durable. When I tried to snap the net into place, the hinged area on the locking mechanism was stiff and did not snap in place or close easily. I suspect it will loosen up and work better over time. The nylon covered PVC mesh is well made and the holes in the net are a bit larger than similar collapsible nets. This is a big plus to prevent hooks from getting tangled in the net. The net comes with a storage bag but a more useful and important feature would have been be to include a built in tether on the handle, in order to secure the net on your boat or kayak. Just because a net floats doesn’t mean it can’t drop into the water unnoticed and float away or get taken away by current. The measuring strip on the bottom of the net is not really functional as once you have a fish in the net it’s difficult to see the measurements. The one major problem with this net is that it is just too small. I was surprised by the smaller size of the hoop and net basket, so I took measurements to compare with the advertised measurements. The width of the net hoop is 16”, not 17”. The depth is accurate at 13”, although a depth of at least 15” would be much better. The length of the net hoop measured closer to 12”, not 16”. I tested the net on the water and netted several fish with it. The net handled fish measuring 17” or less without too much problem but when it came time to net a 24” Redfish, I had to scoop the fish in sideways and it filled the net. Fortunately, the fish was completely worn out and had stopped fighting when I netted it. If the fish had still been thrashing about, as many fish will do, I would have struggled to get it in the net. When catching bigger fish it is critical to have a net large enough, yet still maneuverable, to hopefully capture the fish on the first try. KastKing offers a larger, telescopic version, of this net with an advertised hoop size of 18”-17”-17”, which is a very appropriate size for most freshwater and inshore saltwater use. For anyone that purchases the larger net please take measurements and post a review as to their accuracy. The larger net may very well be a 4 or 5 star net but the best I can rate this net is 3 stars and recommend it only to those that are not targeting larger fish. I hope this unbiased review helps.

Keep your fish alive!
Very convenient size. Easy to unfold and it feels well built. I wish the handle was a little longer.
