Good service from this merchant
I must say the firm that sold me this is doing their best to resolve the matter, this may well turn out nice again if the sun comes out and I can test it properly. Some years ago I had a similar device that was permanently plugged in direct to the car battery, it was fixed with Velcro on to the rear shelf. I donβt recall ever having to replace the battery in the 100k miles I did in that car. The first thing I would like to say is if any discerning person saw and handled this item they would probably not buy it; it does not look or feel substantial. Setting it up is straightforward. Obviously it will not charge via the cigarette lighter with a modern car, if you donβt appreciate why then shut the bonnet and polish your nails. The sun was blazing down when I set the device up; after 15 minutes the battery had discharged from 10.2 volts to 7 volts. Something not quite right with that. It maybe just a bad apple, I would have to test it properly but sadly my multimeter 9 v battery is exhausted. The return process is activated but Hermes having just the 2 speeds: Dead Slow and Stop are currently on the latter. We hope for a refund in due course.

Does what it says on the tin - cable length issue
I just wanted to make people aware of some limited information about this productI've bought this with the suggested 2.5m extension as the only cable measurement mentioned was 22.8" (58cm) for the cigarette lighter connection and the crocodile clips connection. What isn't mention is the cable length from the solar panel itself which is another 145cm giving a total of over 2 meters which would be enough for most people.I have bought this for a Smart car which has the battery inside the car in the footwell (the cigarette lighter only works with the ignition switched on) so 2mtr to the battery would have been enough if it had been advertised as such.I have since managed to use the extension but thought it would be useful to share this informationThanks

Keeps your battery charged
We don't drive frequently and had previously the battery running a bit empty, causing issues with starting the engine, so I use this Solar Panel to keep the battery of our car with a good charge as many other reviewers do this for example during holidays.I installed the panel in the side rear window of our MPV, the 4 suction cups hold it firmly in place and connected it to the power socket in the rear, which is also "on" without ignition. The connector has a red LED which goes on if electricity is produced, considering this LED is on even in low light situations, I am somewhat impressed - but haven't measured how much current is actually produced. This review was written 9 months after purchasing and installing the Solar Panel and I have had no power issues during this time, therefore I can say: It works as intended and was money well spent.

Works well, fitted outside the vehicle.
Does the job, on a sunny day I can get avor 0.3A charge rate.Used on a 19 year old Range Rover with slow battery drain issues. Please note: windscreens filter out sunlight and reduce solar exchange. Mine is mounted externally and clipped directly to the battery. I have also fitted an online 5A fuse on the positive leg, to protect the vehicle from fire if the unit gets pulled off by vandals or wildlife. SAFETY FIRST and this should have been fitted as standard, why it's got 4 stars.

Not very good at doing its job.
As a unit it seems a reasonable size handy sucker cups for windows. Currently unsure about the quality but if it can float my 110a leisure battery whilst my caravan is in storage, it will be okay. The cable however is not long enough to reach from a battery box to the front window with the clamps. The 12v socket is mostly useless in caravans due to the fact they run through the consumer unit not direct to the battery. It needs a case or protective bag/ sleeve im not the first and wont be the last so why not just do it? Im very unhappy about the cable but have to make do. After using this for a number of weeks, I've noticed it has no noticeable impact on the battery condition. It doesnt appear to add any charge and I am unable to connect the battery terminals whilst the panel is connected, so see no drain to the battery. For what it is its not that good at all and a bit of a waste of money.

Keeps Honda Civic battery charged
would give this 5 stars, but with my Honda Civic the cigarette lighter disconnects when keys are removed. The only viable option i had was to wire to the OBD (Onboard Diags port) under the dash, which required use of a multimeter to check polarities etc - I had to reverse the cable to ensure this was correct, so u need to know what you're doing... - been working perfectly since. Would've been nice if there was an OBD cable option.

Does the Job
Key is that it appears to be working. Keeps my 110amh battery at 12.6v on sunny day, and 12 .3v when not sunny. So it's just powerful enough to do the job...wouldn't go for any lower wattage. Only criticism is that no meaningful instructions or info, and I only ever have a red light...never green...but it must be trickle charging through my cigarette lighter socket, as took my battery from 12.3v yesterday morning to 12 .6v yesterday evening. Happy.

Cheap and cheerful
It does what is says on the description, just!I'm not convinced how weatherproof this panel is, the output lead is not sealed so there could be water ingress, time will tell. I'm using this to top up the battery in my shed that provides via an inverter, power for lights & low wattage devices. It tops up the battery but struggles to recharge when it is low. It is probably ok to keep a battery topped up when not in use ie campervan , but is not powerful enough to recharge from low. You get what you pay for & this item just meets the description, In hindsight I should have payed more for a higher power, more robust panel.
